Yes, Pine needles is a wonderful venue for anyone that loves real golf. You almost made it thru a story aqbout women without a mention of Wie, then blew it. I'd much rather watch Mahan and Williamson than her. The Richmond Women's Amateur is goin on now, not sure Wie would have gotten a high seed in it.
BTW, the men's US Open is fine, its great to see the supremely pampered have to use skills once and a while.

The betting is NOT on who will win the US Women's Open, but rather which excuse Michelle Wie will choose to explain her inability to break par.
Its even money she'll point to her wrist and whimper, and then sack either the caddie, her teache or her managerment team.
Annika Sorenstam would be forgiven if she accidentially whacks the little prima donna poser in the head with a sand wedge and claim it was her back spasms which caused it.
Women's golf would be far better off.

unfortunate that wie has become this weeks can
of worms, though I have to admit..she has brought
much of it on herself. How anyone who needs a friend
as much as Michelle could piss off Annika is hard to
fathom. I used to blame it on her father, after hearing
from my neice who witnessed a tirade he pulled at the
Hawaiian condo they live in when he went nuts over
a few friends having burgers and a drink at 8:00 pm...he felt it was "too late." After the security appropriately removed HIM, the next day he pulled rank and had the security guy fired. Having said this, it is clear...having listened to Michelles's press conference before the LPGA OPen, that she is in charge and not her old man. She had better get well before trying any more 7 irons from the rough. Otherwise, more 80+ rounds are in the offing. One thing, though I have to admit, she seems like a tough little gal, even though she is going through incredibly tough times and much of it of her own making, I think...in the end..she will be a much heralded champion. When? Who knows.

Let's get over it. You all in the media and Nike are the only one's talking about Wie. What has she done?
Talk about some of the new foxy ladies who CAN play winning golf.

What do you have agains the quality of golf that Jay Williamson and Hunter Mahan gave us during the last week end ? It was much better golf than the finale of the US Open at Oakmont. At least we saw some fantastic shots unlike the US open wher it was more the luck of the bounce.

She's cute and she can play golf but I'm not a fan. Its because she has been developed by her father as a marketing tool to make millions, which she has done. What she hasn't done is win anything. Give me the 12 year old who QUALIFIED for the Women's Open and WASN'T invited.
I'd rather watch someone who earns their way.

I have been so frustrated by the lack of TV coverage for the women events. We have a very exciting field in the LPGA and I for one love to watch them-Instead we get European,3 men tours and REPLAYS!!!!Also being a Canadian we have some lady players who excel on the tour and I love to be able to track them!!

Great post on Tiger-less golf tournaments and watching the LPGA instead June 26, 2007, 1:16 pm

My thoughts exactly. And of course more closeups of Natalie, Kristy, Lorena and the whole bunch. These young women have more appeal than any of the young guys on the PGA tour.
Michelle Who?

Without Tiger.......etc June 26, 2007, 12:53 pm

Your commentary is my sentiments exactly. Tiger, Phil and a perphaps a couple of other tour players bring a high level of excitement to the game. Like you said if these guys are playing, then I'm off to watching the ladies at the LPGA.
But the same thing can be said about the NBA vs the WNBA. RAther than watch a bunch of tatooed, whinning millionaires play round ball I'd much rather watch the women in the WNBA or even the women colledge hoops. It a hell of lot more exciting by far than anything in he NBA.
