Have to say I can't see the WBA over the NBA even though I would agree to watch it over the whiners like Alan IVeson and the likes.
But, when you watch a team like San Antonio or even Utah and Phoenix (or GOlden State) which all know the meaning of Teamwork, then I like the NBA. The Golden State Utah series was pure fun. Run and gun and defense all in the same series...and neither of them was favoured, or in fact, of course, did win. Much rather see them than the Miami Heat and their (yawn) pass it into Shaq attack offense.

Totally agree. I actually look forward to watching them, I mean Anika smooth swing is something to behold. The seriousness of Lorena, the perkiness of Natalie, Wie bombing away, Hurst swinging for the fences. The wife gets choked up when the stations are not covering them, like where was last weeks tournment! No coverage. What's with The Golf Channel anyways, are they not interested in promoting more viewers, especially the women?

What a great essay this week.
I couldn't agree more with watching the women instead of the more and more ofter "boring" men and I too look forward to the tight shots of Natalie Gulbis. And when they interview the women they do dislay a lot more enthusiasm.
And Pine Needles is one of the best kept secrets in Pinehurst. It doesn't get all the "hype" that the Pinehurst resort courses do but it is a quality track that I never get tired of. Hope everyone forgets about it again after the ladies leave!
And you are right about Michelle Wie, as cute as she can be, but she's become something closer to John Daly.....what's the story going to be this week?

I guess you can have Michelle and I'll take the Creaminator...Paula. I'll be routing for her to get that major. Morgan (Pressel) is fun to watch too. Michelle is cute, but will she ever win???

One of the problems with pro golf is that people don't want to watch good golf, they just want to see the stars. Did you watch the US Open? Did you watch the Travelers? Great competitive golf. The USGA has hyped golf for big money TV time at the expense of real lovers of the game of golf - whoever is playing.

It is great to see Zach Johnson and Antonio Cabrera (?) beat Tiger and Phil.
But what is amazing is when a teenage girl (Michelle Wie) bombs drives 280+ yards.
I'll tell you what is funny is one of those Golf Channel on-demand videos with some pros taking a challenge. Juli Inkster and a few others were trying to break the glass on a windowpane and they all kept missing it by a mile. Meanwhile..... Jay Haas and one of the sponsors CONSISTENTLY broke the glass.
Golf isn't all about bombing 350 yard drives or hitting an 8 iron 180 yards. I used to caddy at the St Charles Country Club (in IL) and the club champion was a scratch golfer. Ironically, he hit a 5 iron only about 150 yards but he was deadly accurate and hit most of the greens in regulation. Those he didn't (such as long par 4s), he laid his wedge close enough for one putt. And this is in the days when there were only two wedges in the bag.
