Course Profile

This is a shot placement course because of its narrow fairways. The Jack Nicklaus Memorial Tournament for the PGA Tour is annually held here. The club hosted the 1992 U.S. Amateur Tournament. "Golf Digest" rated this 16th best out of "America's 100 Greatest Courses" for 1995-96, and 21st for 1997-98. The same publication found it to be the "Best in State" course for the years 1995 through 1998. In addition, "GOLF Magazine" rated it 18th among the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." for 1997 and 1999, and 19th for 1995. In the category of "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" it was ranked 2nd by "GOLFWEEK." in 1997, 3rd in 1998 and 7th in 1999.
