Golf Courses

The Resort Course

Architect: William Flynn, Gene Bates, Hugh Hughes

Description:
The Resort Course is located directly on the resort grounds and was originally designed by William Flynn in 1926. Overseen by acclaimed golf course designer Gene Bates, the reconstruction of the Resort Course entailed the complete redesign and reconfiguration of each of the course's 18 holes. The course is a par 71, playing 6,253 yards from the gold tee. Water comes into play throughout most of the course with 12 acres of lakes. Signature to the course is a central elevation of more than 30 feet (one of the highest natural points in Boca Raton), a scenic island green completing the course on the 18th hole and a custom-designed water feature created by Hugh Hughes of Themed Environment Company.

The Resort Course is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida. Steeped in rich golfing history, the Boca Raton Resort & Club’s golf program has been headed by such noted professionals as Tommy Armour, "the Silver Scot" and "Slammin'" Sammy Snead. The course has hosted a variety of special events and tournaments, as well as noted professional and celebrity golfers.

Gene Bates has designed courses from Florida to the Philippines and has been acclaimed as one of the top golf architects in the world. Bates is affiliated with noted PGA Tour professional Fred Couples and was formerly vice president of design and construction for Nicklaus Design Group.

The Country Club Course

Architect: Joe Lee

Description:
The Country Club course refurbishment provided a comprehensive redesign of each greens complex and the addition of several tees. The project was overseen by up-and-coming golf architect Kipp Schulties, who previously worked for Gene Bates.

Each of the Country Club course's 18 greens adhere to the strict standards of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and are contoured with subtle hills and valleys to add additional challenge and memorable play. The greens measure approximately 6,800 square feet. The course is planted with Champion Tif Dwarf Bermuda grass, which is cold tolerant, recovers from wear quickly and allows the greens to roll true and fast. Additionally, the irrigation system around the greens complex, along with a subsurface drainage system in the bunkers and designated low areas around the greens complex, relieves rainwater from the surface quickly. Another notable feature of the renovated course is the many greenside bunkers which are deep with steep grass faces folding sharply over to the sand. The Country Club course is a par 72 playing 6,714 yards from the gold tees. It is located minutes from the Cloister at the Boca Country Club.
