Forget the LPGA, Lorena Ochoa should have the PGA Tour, Masters on her mind
Looking back at my illustrious career as a golf scribe, I've come to accept one grand truth - that I absolutely pee myself in hysterical glee when confronted with greatness. Look back at things I've written about Tiger Woods and I've just melted all over the keyboard in a pool of hyperbole.
But I stand by my pee. I am proud to stand tall in my own urine while hysterically praising Tiger Woods. That's how I roll.
Now, as the Masters is on everyone's mind, my thoughts go to Lorena Ochoa, who I believe should have the Masters on her mind, as well. You see, I firmly believe that Ochoa, within the next three to five years, should try her hand at playing against the men. For an entire season. That's how good I think Lorena Ochoa is.
And why shouldn't Ochoa shoot for the ultimate? She is showing that she's light years ahead of the LPGA when her game is on. Which is often. She practices hard, she lives right, she's as competitive as you'll find. And seriously, an entire year on the PGA Tour as someone who misses a lot of cuts but makes a couple, all the while earning solid appearance fees at least in a few tournaments, will roughly equal what she'd make in the LPGA.
It's easy to see the difference between Tiger Woods and the world's No. 60 golfer, right? Well, the same drop exists between player No. 60 and player No. 120. No. 120 is still a heckuva golfer, but he's still not a major player. I believe, if given a full year against those men, she could work herself into that No. 60-120 area. Which would go down as one of the greatest achievements in golf history.
Alas, I just can't help myself. I am a full-blooded Loreniac and I don't care who knows it. I know there are plenty of people out there who would find this plan to be moronic. I think Lorena Ochoa could finish in the money on the PGA Tour. I think she could even make a run at qualifying for the Masters. Now excuse me, I need to use the restroom.

For the resort golfer looking for those Hawaii coastline money shots, Princeville at Hanalei's Makai Golf Course has more oceanfront holes running along the North Shore. Both the Ocean and Lakes' nines weave out to the coast, and the Ocean's par-3 seventh hole, playing on rugged coastline 200 feet above the ocean, is among Kauai's most famous.

Plenty of modern golf courses in southern Nevada will dazzle with spectacular views, impeccable conditions and difficult holes, but few will give you a real sense of Las Vegas history. One exception is Las Vegas National, one of the few remnants of how life used to be in Sin City.
