The Makai golf course at Princeville Resort on the Hawaiian island of Kauai

The Makai Course is one of two golf courses at the Princeville Resort on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai.

The original golf course at Princeville, the Makai consists of three nines: the Lakes, Ocean and Woods. Of the three, the Lakes and Ocean nines offer multiple coastal holes with spectacular scenery, with the signature par-3 seventh hole on the Ocean being the jaw-dropper. It's about a 180-yard carry from the championship tees over the ocean to a green that sits right on the edge.

The Makai is slated to go under the knife later in 2008 for renovations, which will include course lengthening, adding a new set of tees and enhancing many of the holes. It's much more user-friendly than the challenging Prince Course next door.
