A game of class - not crass March 30, 2006, 1:06 pm

What is troublesome about Tiger's language is that it violates the standrads of the game.
The culture of golf is that it is a game of dignity, manners, class and respect.
You never heard a curse word out of the mouths of Palmer, Player, Nicklaus, Watson or even Greg Norman when he self-destructed at the Masters.
Gutter language only demeans the game of golf, and worse yet, the player using such language. If Tiger wants to be an all around class act, he needs to clean up his language so it matches his enormous talent.

This man can spend 345 days being the consumate citizen, humanitarian, fundraiser and sportsman, but if during the remaining 20 days (mostly Saturday's or Sunday's) he emits an expletive, he becomes a classless individual who demeans the game of golf? That is not only a double standard, it is not a standard that even Mr. Palmer has been unable to maintain. All one has to do is review some of the earlier broadcasts of The Skins Game.
Tiger's enormous talent, exemplary citizenship, and humanitarian contributions far exceeds the occasional curse word we hear from him. So let's get a grip!

I'd much rather Tiger react with some fire and genuine emotion than hear one more 'I want to thank God for this victory" (or something similar) as if God gave a rat's a## who wins a golf tournament.

Who doesn't let out a few cuss word's when something goes awry? The only reason we always hear Tiger's is there is ALWAYS a camera stuck up his butt and in his face. That is the only reason.I'm surprised he can go pee by himself.....Leave him alone, he has provided so many with so much, he deserves to let off steam if needed....

Allowing for the overflow of negative comments that seem to stream out from Tiger haters any and everytime his name is mentioned here, I'd like to know what has prompted this content of this article. Did I miss some outburst of profanity from him in one of the four rounds of The Players Championship? Or is this just another, "we don't really have a suitable topic, so let's throw Tiger's name out there and wait for the haters to pounce with their righteous diatribes?
When it comes to Tiger Woods, the glass is always one-tenth empty!!

As the column says, "... I just read an AP story about cursing that asks: 'Are we living in an Age of Profanity?'" You can read it here: http://msnbc.msn.com/id/12063093/

Understood!! But, there is not a single indication that Tiger was a specific focus of the AP story, or even mentioned in the story. So why bait the Tiger haters. I echo, "Let's get real and move on."
