Why can't we just be the golfer race instaed of refering to Aro-American, Asian-American, etc.
Let's forget all this.
Let's go for an even playing field since the day of the aparthied and segregation are gone. Aren't they?
There are some that can play and some that play like they write, me for example.

Ahhh!!, but for a perfect world. It is sad that there are those who cannot just celebrate, enjoy, and respect the sterling accomplishments of all members of the LPGA and PGA.

Wie, golf's racial barriers, etc. August 24, 2005, 8:49 am

I agree with the comments realted to golf's racial barriers. (BTW I am caucaisin so I have no agenda.)
I was priviledged to grow up in the NY Metropolitan area in the 1970's. where caddies were, and still are, a big part of the game. It was amzaing how many black caddies could shoot lights out on someof the best courses in the country. I played with old men that I watched shoot in the mid 60's at Winged Foot after toting members' bags 36 holes. These were men who went by first name only but could play. I remember a caddt named Rufus, he was in his 70's and used to claim to have caddied for Horton Smith - he could putt like no one else. He had a fast wristing stroke that luanched the ball into the hole. Then there was "Geno" who swung with a cross handed grip and could rip drives 260 yards straight as an arrow. There were many others. I often wonder what their lives would have been lik eif they would have been able to play instead of caddy. What would the game be like today if things had been different?
Michele Wie is in it for the money, she's being managed as an asset. That's fine. Tiger Woods played as an amateur with a goal on accomplishements at each level. Wie thinks she can skip the intermediate stes. I am sure she'll do well financially, but the price she will ultimately pay is yet to be determined.

Excellent insight about Wie, and thought-provoking commentary about your experience with the caddies at Winged Foot, Bob.

did you happen to see the leaderboard at last weeks tournament? Shouldnt it be called the OLGA [Oriental ladies GA} I mean who wants to watch Kong Kang Dong Fong Hong Hang in action?

The leaderboard is the indicator of which golfer is playing at her/his best in that tournament or that week. If you desire different names, which seemingly means white Americans, there are some options. Two of them are: if you have extensive golfing expertise pass it on to our ladies so they can play better; or, use your remote. Golf is a game of precise skill performance during a specific round of play. It is also a game of dignity, gentlemen/women, and honor. Your racially insenitive remarks are not only disrespectful to native Asian member of the LPGA, Asian Americans, and the insitution of golf, they are just damn arrogant. Tell me sir, were you ever the Head Pro at Bobby Jones Golf Course in Atlanta?
