Orchards Golf Course
About
The Orchards Golf Club in Belleville offers an 18-hole championship course designed by Belleville native and former Masters winner Bob Goalby. With four sets of tees, the course appeals to a wide range of skill levels. The layout starts out with a gentler front nine where you won’t find any doglegs on the first six holes but as you move towards the back nine, the course gets more challenging. The golf course has an interesting and diverse mix of holes, with the seventh through the 14th being a particularly notable stretch. You’ll have to contend with abundant out-of-bounds and both water and sand come into play often. In addition to the golf course, the Orchards G.C. boasts a multi-level driving range as well as a large practice putting green with a sand bunker.

Great place to take your girlfriend
I played with my girlfriend on a Saturday with a 1:50 tee time. No one was on the tee box so we went off at 1:30 ... Their are a couple of fairways that are in rough shape. For the most part the greens were in good shape. As much slope as there was to many of the greens the ball did not break as much as you would think.. Traps were the same way , some where in great shape others under repair. The back is harder then the front. The place was wide open on a Saturday afternoon. Its close to my house so very convenient. We got a Golf Now hot deal and paid for 2 golfers for what I would normally pay for just one. Great for the price. Would not be a course I would pick if I had a larger group of players. Would rate it along the same lines as Fairfield - Triple lakes - Mystic. At the right price , its a good place to hone your game.
Maybe if they do some work
The greens and tee boxes were ok at best. There was a fair amount of burnt patches on each. The fairways were terrible, bare dirt in many different locations. The only thing I can say is that I am glad I didn't pay much.
Course has Improved immensely
Course has improved overall as the greens and tee boxes were in very good shape. Some rairways are wet for unknown reason (and it's dry). Not all of the grass is in on the fairways as well.
Help Wanted
I played it on a Hot Deal, or else I would have been upset. Greens were ok, just really slow... but the course was in rough condition, perhaps from the drought last year. I can't recommend it.
Great course poor conditions
The course was good as far as layout and ease of use. The fairways were rough and under repair.
The range master monitored was not real cordial and seemed to hover a bit.
Golf now rate was not a discount for the time period we played.
not good
fairways, rough and tee boxes need a lot of work - won't be back for a long time to give you time to work on your problems.
Friendly staff!
Greens looking better and fairways are on the mend. Staff said they lost the course two years ago but they've been working hard to get back to a great course. The staff is very very friendly and does everything & anything in their power to make you feel welcome and ensure you have a great experience! I play this course because they are so nice every time I go!
Good Course in the STL Area
Orchards has a good set-up of holes. They are working very hard to make it a great course. Some of the fairways have some bare spots, but the greens are in great condition. I always enjoy playing the Orchards and I would recommend it to anyone. The Golfnow price was outstanding and too good to pass up!
Great value and layout
Some fairways needed attention, but was very manageable. Need to hit fairways here, as many holes require you to hit curved approach shots. Will be coming back very soon to this course.
Great Rate
Found a 2:00pm tee time at 56% discount so we figured we'd check it out. Greens were in fabulous shape and the undulation made putting a challenge. Most fairways were in good shape, the rough was a tough out but made it difficult to find balls at times. All the par 3's were awesome and #18 is a beast of a finishing hole for a 14 handicapper like myself.
Two feet off fairway too rough. US Open conditions not as tough.
I understand that the weather has hampered the mowers from getting out, but rough six to eight inches right off fairway is too much. The course is tight and challenging enough. I most definitely play The Orchards again once conditions improve. Also, there were beginners on the course that couldn't move the ball more than 30 - 40 yards at a time holding up play. It's obvious that they didn't know anything about golf etiquette so we had to wait. That group should have been escorted off the course.
First round in IL this year and this course is one of the best in the STL Illinois area. Cool to see the grounds crew out there busting out the work
My round started with an awesome fish taco from the bar and then I ripped a drive down the middle on #1. Course was just what I was looking for, this early in the season. Good conditions throughout and the zoysia looked to have pulled thru the offseason nicely. Ill be back
Good time, weather fine, course fun!
It's winter here in the midwest, so no one can expect pristine conditions at any course. The Orchards upgraded some of the holes in the last few years, and they did an excellent job. The should look great in Spring and throughout next Summer.
Not worth it
No yardage markers on the course. Fairways were horrible and almost non-existent.....dirt and dead grass. Round took forever. Not sure what the marshall was doing b/c the group in front of us was horribly slow and wouldn't let us play through. Guess he was just enjoying the weather.
Only positive is that the greens were in great shape.
Will not play here again.
Nice course layout, but conditions are lacking.
The Orchards at one time was a premier course in the area. Sadely, that is no longer true. I keep going back in the hopes the conditions have gotten better. The changes they have made on a three of the holes have made the course better, but they are STILL having troubles with their fairways. This past hot summer has killed a couple of them and they are nothing but bare dirt. I guess the course does not have the money to water the proper amount to keep the grass alive. During the summer the course fairways were brown and the rough just died. I would say play this course in the Spring when it gets plenty of water, but once the hot Summer hits go to other places that can keep the grass alive.
Very poor condition would not play would not play again.
Very poor condition needs alot of maintenance. Could understand because weather conditions but this was more than just weather conditions.
Not as I remembered
Don't know if it was the heat of this summer but this course got beat up. Remember playing years ago and liked the course. This time it was not in good condition. Disappointed.
