Good golf, good weather, good friends.Does it get any better?

During the drought, this course is rough around the edges. Lots of bare dirt and patchy grass but the most troubling is these areas are also around the greens which make chipping and pitching the ball extremely difficult and frustrating. The greens were aerated about 3-4 weeks ago but they are still not worth playing as they are bumpy and like a waffle. Another issue is not the golf courses fault but when I booked on Golf Now, rather than being charged the customary booking fees of $2 per player, I was charged a total of $15 (for 4 players). This is way too much money for fees and will make me think twice about using Golf Now to make golf bookings.

Paying under $20 for a round of 18 w/ a cart is a great value on its own. I have played this course upwards of 60 times and this was the first time I experienced the following:

1. When the cart was assigned the staff informed me that it has not been charged. Ok I understand sometimes this occurs but when he doesn't offer a solution if the cart dies or anything more than "this cart has not been charged" what do you say? So I asked if I should inform them in advance if I noticed any issues so we don't effect the pace of play, the gentlemen seemed to get angry and said "we know"! Well the cart did die on hole 17. I called the pro shop but no one came out, so we got pushed in by another 2some.

2. The team in front of us played with 5 players. This not only stalled the pace but they also were very rude. I understand they might be regulars but that does not account for the Marshall not saying anything to them the whole round.

Roddy has always been a steady part of my rotation. You can't just bomb away at this course; you have to choose your shots wisely and learn the subtle breaks on the greens. The clubhouse got a much needed upgrade. Also it has a good practice area.

However, for some reason today, the pro shop staff was rude. Usually the service had been good. He acted, at best, as if he couldn't be bothered. Also, parts of the course was pretty beat up by the drought and wild hogs. The bunkers are rock hard. And, It would had been nice if the staff warned us the greens was recently punched and sanded.

The course was a little beat up because if the drought, but still challenging. It's a long ride back to the club house The snack shack at the end of nine was close.

Fast undulating greens...need to play a few times to get used to them. Some weird holes...blind shots with very little room for error.....golf is tough enough...what you see isn't what you get...very unforgiving course.

I would recommend this course to friends with a couple of reservations. Our last round took 6 hours to finish, but my biggest disappointment with the course was that the bunkers were hard with no sand whatsoever, at times you could not even get a divot in these bunkers. I still like the layout of this course which is challenging for average golfer. The new clubhouse & bar are awesome, a much needed improvement over the older facility. THE MARSHALLS ARE RUDE TO THE PATRONS, which I have noticed over last few rounds I played there.

Great course, worth the drive and will continue to be one of my favorite courses

Aside from patches of mud, good course to play on. Green conditions were good.

Greens were pure, tee boxes were above average, considering we are in middle of a drought the course was in good shape.

Roddy Ranch is a great course with challenging holes and it comes with beautiful views. The pace of play for weekend is slow. Marshaling is not their strength as individuals are more concerned with obedience of cart signs than pace of play. I'd still recommend you okay this course.

2nd time I have played this course, and despite the dry weather it was in phenomenal shape. Great value to play Roddy Ranch as we played for $40 to ride.

The greens were very difficult, and the pin placements were intense.

Would recommend this to anybody in the east Bay looking for a fun challenging round of golf. It gets warm, but they have water on what seemed every other hole and the beverage cart was making the rounds.

One thing I will say as a negative, the bunkers can't really be considered sand, mostly just dirt, so don't plan to play that explosion shot out of them. Not a big deal, but first when in I learned the hardway.

Greens r in good shape, but I can't handle 6hr rounds on Saturday at 100 degrees

Good deal on Golf Now. Course has always been one of my favorites in the area and well maintaned. Fairways need water lots of brown patches but to be expected with drought. Greens were in good shape.

This course is not for the faint of heart nor golfers who are easily frustrated. The course is very challenging and very fair. There are obvious locations where you are supposed to hit the ball. If you can do so, the course is fairly benign. However, if you miss the intended location, you will be penalized. It takes some time to learn the greens. Like the other nearby courses, the bunkers need some soft sand. The 4-year drought has taken its toll, but overall the course is in good condition. The staff has always been friendly, but on this last occasion, the computer was running very slow and it took a long time to check in. The driving range is real grass which is nice and there are two nice putting and chipping greens. Like an older brother, you love this course even though it beats you up on a regular basis.

Played for the first time here on Labor Day as expected very slow but wasn't expecting 6 hr round. Due to the drought course is pretty beat up and dried out, greens are pretty well taken care of atleast very fast!!! Not a bad deal for the $20 tee time on golf now but def. wouldn't pay full price

Scenery, elevation changes, topography and bunkering, and good weather made for an enjoyable round with friends and family competitors. Glad we played without the wind!

This was our second time playing Roddy Ranch. We went a year ago and the course was in the same terrible conditions. We would hit a perfect drive straight down the middle of the fairways and END UP ON A FRICKING DIRT PATCH! Really terrible when you just simply miss a green and you ball is unplayable because it is nestled down on a little piece of dirt between the half grass & half dirt patches. And to top if of they charge $70. Way over priced not a $70 golf course.
