good hole placements
I always enjoy playing this course which is my home course. The staff had been doing a great job on the course and it shows. One thing I wish would get fixed would be the hardness of the sand in the traps, they are not all like this but there is quite a few. Other than that it's an awesome course to play!!!!
Nice scenery
Very slow play. Marshals wouldn't ask players to play a little faster.
We are sorry about the pace of play. We want everyone to have a enjoyable experience with us. We would love for you to give us another try, Please email me directly for a promo code julieteetimes@aol.com
This course has beautiful view
Last couple of year play roddy ranch course
This time play was very good
We are so glad that your had a great round with us! We hope to see you back soon
Most Scenic In The Area
Enjoy a peaceful quiet and outstanding panoramic views of the delta filled with rolling hills, the San Joaquin River, and the Sierra Nevada range in the distance. A challenging layout with fast, undulating greens. The course is in great shape considering the recent drought, with minimal areas showing stress. Every hole has its own unique challenge and requires your best course management skills. Definitely my favorite course in East Contra Costa County!
Thank you for the great review! We are so glad you enjoyed your round and had a great day with us. We hope to see you back soon
Very enjoyable
We really enjoyed out play at Roddy Ranch! We will be back definitely. It was a different golf course as wide open very hilly but fun. We enjoyed the 2 people that we were matched with as they were very familiar with the course.
We are so glad you had a great time with us and made new friends at the course! We hope to see you back soon
Slowest round ever
Roddy is a fun course with a great layout. That said I am not planning on playing it again. Our round took over six hours to complete. Waited on almost every hole. Not the golf experience I am looking for.
Thank you for playing a round with us and we are glad you liked the course and found it fun! We are sorry about the pace of play. We would want your golf experience to be amazing. Please give us another chance, email me directly for a promo code, julieteetimes@aol.com
Wow...Slow Slow Slow
3 hours for 8 holes...
Outrageous.
Slowest round EVER
We are sorry about the pace of play. The course layout is beautiful but can sometimes slow play down. We hope you will give us another chance, please email me directly for a promo code. julieteetimes@aol.com
Roddy Ranch challenges your shot making skills.
The elevation changes are a challenge, greens show wear but putt quick. Fairways are good to very good. Staff works to make you welcome. Enjoyable round.
Thank you for the review! We are so happy you enjoyed your round with us and that we made you feel welcomed! That is always our goal here. We hope to see you back soon
Oh Jack!!!
There is a lot of good players on this course. So keep your money in the pocket.
Depending on the weather, either a pleasant sunny, light breeze, short rough, soft green or to the 30-40mph wind, long un-cut rough and hard pan, cooked green.
This course can easily add 5-10 strokes to your score if you are not careful.
Many players came to tune up their game for the up and coming tournaments, elsewhere, or simply try to better themselves as what I came for. For some reason, I thought I played enough times here, it still gets me, somehow. Thus, the fun.
The pro shop people are extremely nice and friendly. The little cafe produces more than above average food and tends to your tastes anyway you like. The tri-tip days, you don't want to miss.
Carts are dirty, PERIOD. Hey you are in cowboy country. The carts are as clean as the horses and cows. Yes, you can see those animals in the adjacent properties, and there are some large traps on the course, if I am not mistaken, they are trying to catch some LARGE animals, I mean, even I can get into those large cages, easy!
If they press the green, watch out, it will run up to 14-15 easy. But, they don't do it that often.
"Brown in the new Green", as their slogan says, as they are trying to conserve water and do their part for the water shortage. So expect patches of "browns" everywhere on the course.
For me, as long as the green is smooth, it is playable.
Bunker is a different story, they are inconsistent and hard to predict. mostly due to the wind blowing the sand and they don't really prep the bunkers, and rocks, yes, rocks in the sane, so care for your clubs when you walk in there.
The layout is as unique as a course can get. Lots of birdie holes if you know where to place your balls. Green is challenging enough even for the scratchers.
Lots of up/down hill approach. Some blank tee shot, one par 5 (#6), you wonder why you can't hit driver. Two PAR 3s you wonder why you might have to hit driver (#7, #13) from the back tee.
Tee to green all require your attention, there is no letup in any shot. Just when you think you can, trouble awaits you.
Definitely 100% risk and reward course. It you play conservative, you will not achieve your best score on this course. It's what cowboys do, yes? Calculated risk, they say, even the cowboys have to get on wild horses and cows at times to tend them and let their inner monsters come out some times. As my golf swing demons await their opportunities and way too many chances on this course where they show their ugly faces. And I fight to the death to make PAR. FUN!!
Strong finish holes reminded you if you do take risks and manage the placements, birdie doors might open to allure you, but, beware too much risks taking make you wonder how you easily gave the hard earned birdies back on just one of those holes.
Ah that is why you want to go back...
Either he is a ghost or my imagination, I always seen a guy walking and running around the course, and sometimes I hear "nice shot", "got you" in the winds right after my shot...
Neh... must be my imagination!!! But, I swear...
Neh… golfers never swear, right?!?!?
WOW, thank you for the AMAZING review!!! We are so glad you loved your round with us. Your tips will be very helpful for anyone reading your review. We hope to see you back very soon
Roddy Ranch
I loved the course. I did not like or expect to be charged $4.99 for making the tee time through GolfNow. Com.
Will not use GolfNow again if it costs $4.99.
We are so happy that you loved our course! How the payment works with us and GolfNow is that you pay a booking fee and 5% of your round upfront and then you pay rest of the 95% at the course. We are sorry for the confusion.
course is okay.
Staft is not nice..
When I check in proshop..
Maybe I'm using hot deal..
We are very sorry that you felt the staff wasn't nice to you because you purchased a hot deal. We strive to make every customer feel special and welcomed at the course no matter what type of tee time you have. At the end of the day everyone who walks though our door is our customer! Please let us make it up to you by giving you a promo code for you next round. julieteetimes@aol.com

Thank you for the review! We are so happy that you loved the gate as much as we do. Come back soon!
roddy has come back !
The course was in very good shape with the trademark fast greens in full "beast" mode. The rest of the course had recovered from the very dry conditions of last fall. and played very well. I am hoping that the course will continue to play this well throughout the year.
It is an excellent layout and one of the best designed courses in the bay area. It is always a great value for the money and quite popular. My only complaint is the slow pace of play.. but this is due to the challenging design and the heavy play
Thank you for the great review! We hope the weather continues to be great so our conditions can be full "beast" mode all year! We hope to see you back soon
Nicely groomed course
Excellent experience! Had a fun time - the other two golfers were also very friendly.
We are so happy that you had a great time! We hope to see you back soon.
Pace of Play a Problem
Course was in good shape, the staff was friendly as others have mentioned, but we teed off at 11:35am and walked off the 18th green at 5:30pm. Longest round of golf I've ever played. I would not come here again unless I knew for certain the pace would be under 5 hours for 18 holes...
We are happy that you loved the layout of the course but we are so sorry about the pace of play. Please email me directly for a promo code. julieteetimes@aol.com
Challenging course but poor pace of play
Friendly staff but the overall course of play was very poor. There are a lot of positives in this course like:
Course will challenge your ball striking skills from different lies and elevations. Dog lefts and rights can be tough. Lady with food cart and marshalls were quite friendly. It was very nice afternoon then it got bad. The back up turned from two groups then to three. I was hoping still for things to improve but it was done hill from there, I ended up not finishing the course because it was sunset and got caught in traffic on my home. Anyway, I would like recommend it but its tough - I just wished I could have this challenging 18 hole course!
Thank you for the review! We are so glad that you liked the course and want to apologize for the pace of play. Please email me directly for a promo code to make up for the experience, julieteetimes@aol.com
Greens
Greens are fast very slopped. The course is very challenging but fun it make you use your hold bag
Thank you for the review! We hope to see you back soon.
Great Day
Anytime I play Golf is a great day. Course is more difficult than the average course. Blind shots, undulation and speed of the greens, water, hazards, etc. This is not a course for a first timer, but if you are willing to loose alot of balls one would have the experience of seeing the beautiful views and wildlife. It was a very enjoyable day with my friend and the two we paired up with. As one says the worst day at golf is better than the best day at work.
Thank you for the great review! We are so glad you day was made better with us! We hope to see you again soon.
Shot Maker's Delight
It's a scenic design that uses the surrounding hills and valleys to create a challenge that places premium on accuracy and smart play. Greens are good sized, allowing wide variety of pin placements. They roll well and hold up under heavy play. Pace of play is the only negative issue. Played twice, and both times exceeded 5 hours for 18. Must be patient and allow for extra time with poor to fair players trudging around in search of errant shots.
Thank you for the review! We are sorry about the pace of play at the course but we are very pleased that you enjoyed the time with us. Please email me directly for a promo code. julieteetimes@aol.com
We are so happy that you can call us your home course! We love that you notice that our number one priority is customer service. Thank you for the advice and we will take that into consideration. Hope to see you back soon!
