Roddy Ranch Golf Club

Played on a saturday afternoon and played in 3.5 hours. I have played many 5 hours rounds here so that was great for a change. Roddy was the driest i have ever seen it. Many of the fairways were filled with "Ground under repair areas" and just overall dirt. The 18th was really the only hole that was in good shape with its usual nice "grass" fairways. Every other fairway it was almost hard to hit irons off because you couldnt really take a divot as the ground/dirt was just hard. Understandable conditions with the drought but would just hope for a little better from Roddy. However, the greens were still in good shape!

This was a great course! The greens are in very good shape which does partly make up for the sketchy places all around the course. Even though it is a tough course, if you play your angles right off the tee, you can have a lot of fun hitting all sorts of shots and make some birdies. To play this course with the same shot shape every time is certainly possible yet not nearly as fun as playing some bubba golf. All in all, a great course for any type of golfer.

Course is laid out well Sandtrap's are placed perfectly to make it a challenging round of golf lots of hills and valleys

We finilly seen her on the 5 hole and she sold me beer without twist off tops. I didn't carry an opener so by the time we found a way to open it it was hot. Thats my only complaint

Pace of play was horrible!! They just run as many players as possible on the course. No marshal in sight.

We waited on every tee and every fairway for the group ahead of us. It was taking 20 minutes per hole.

We quit after 10 holes, just could not stand waiting.

Not a good value when you can't finish 18 holes in anything near a reasonable time.

Course has a nice layout with some tough elevation changes and tight fairways. Greens were in good shape. Tee boxes were a little chewed up. Bunkers were soaked with water after a storm had come through a couple days before so I can't speak to their quality. Fairways were generally in good shape except for a few bare spots. Pro-shop and bartenders were friendly.

Pace was a little slow and we only had one group in front of us. I can see it being very slow on a busy day.

My son and I love the course, but the layout lends to slow play due to hills and ravines. Course marshals were friendly, but could not get slow groups moving. The two major disappointments were the staff in the pro shop who seemed too pre-occupied or indifferent to get us going and the cart which would not have made 18 holes had we not gotten out to walk alongside on inclines on the back nine. Very disappointing, but not surprising based on previous reviews of the staff and operations of this course on this website. I'm certain someone will respond by commenting on how much I like the course and ignore my issues with how it's run. Too bad.

Roddy ranch has never looked or played better. Best shape course has been in! Had fast round and conditions were perfect. With drought ongoing get out and enjoy the small window of perfect conditions. Everything is reall beautiful up there now, all GREEN! Enjoy it before all the hills turn yellow. The fellow behind the counter checking us in must have been trained by Putin. He seemed perturbed we were there. He tossed the cart key at us. We asked about range balls. "No range balls we are all out." Obviouslyt a
stupid question Asked him what cart we should take. "Check with the Starter." No Starter to be found.
Must have had bad day.

5 hour round. A lot of beginners spraying the ball. No Marshall help. I won't be back for a while. To bad, I like this course.

Really slow play. Had to wait for a cart that almost died after 11 holes when we got kicked off the course because of weather.

Conditions were horrible. Weeds everywhere, no sand in the bunkers. The tee markers look like they haven't moved in months. I will never understand why they insist on putting tournaments out on Sunday morning. We were 5 1/2 hours in when we called it quits after 16 holes. Not a marshall to be seen anywhere. Ive played here probably close to a hundred times and to me it looks like they have given up and are getting ready to close. Maybe I wouldn't have been so irritated if there was something to eat at the turn, how hard is it to make a few hot dogs. For gods sake even bethel island does that.

We teed off as twosome and ran into the slow play on the third hole. When the marshal came by on the seventh hole and asked how things were going, and we told him the problem. 5 holes later we still saw the same group a complete par 4 open in front of them. Should never take over 5 hours to play 18 holes.

I played Roddy Ranch on an exceptionally cold day. Many of the golf carts could not keep charged for a full round of golf, dramatically slowing pace of play.

My round took over 5.5 hours.

It took my 3some 4 hrs to play 12 holes. While waiting on the tee box of 13, behind 3 other groups, I saw my first marshal of the day. He came speeding through with no explanation and refused to even discuss the slow pace of play situation on the course. The marshal's name was Gail. Watch out for this guy, he is rude, has tons of attitude, and has no idea a thing called customer service exists.

I spoke with the head pro. He was apologetic and rectified the issue.

Roddy Ranch is a great layout for an unbeatable price. It's worth the drive from SF, just don't go out there on a sub-50 degree day. The golf carts can't handle the cold and you'll be in for a long round.

Very nice layout & challenging, not a walker's course. First time I played it & didn't realize how many fairway bunkers came into play - ground was hard & ball rolled in bunkers quite easily. Bunkers around greens were deep & quite challenging especially since sand was poor. Two tee shots set up poorly as landing area could not be seen. Am looking forward to playing again & see if I can avoid the fairway bunkers now that I have more knowledge

First of all, they need to spread the tee times out a bit, and even on a cold day like 12/1, use a starter. The pace of play was the worst I have ever experienced. I had been talking this course up to my buddies for almost a year, and then we finally go, and we only finished 13 holes in 4 1/2 hours. I mean, at my local course on a busy day I'll finish 18 in 3 hours maybe 3 1/2. With this being said, if this is how they do business there I'm over it, bummer thing is I have a groupon, I don't even want anymore. My friends complained the whole Way home. I saw 2 or 3 marshals on the course, who seriously just roamed the course, instead of trying to figure out why 12 people were stopped on a hole, and actually doing something about it, they just drove by doing nothing. What a waist. I feel used. Honestly I would like my money back, I'd also like my 4 1/2 hours back too!! Now going by past experiences, I loved the course, wether or not this was an abnormally busy day, it shouldn't matter, if a course is run correctly, than the pace of play should be perfect. Sometimes all it takes is for a marshal to mention hitting 3 or 4 balls per player when you have 3 groups of 4 behind you to get a group moving, but nothing was said, nothing was done.

The course was an excellent shape. the only issue is the speed of play. The Staff was excellent. I will definitely comeback to play this course.
