Fair course for practising
But I would not go back...fair price, interesting course, I played on thursday, and it was empty, finished the whole round in 2 hrs 15mnts, a lot of woods for hazards.. Bring extra balls because it is very easy to lost the ball, the couse has very dry condition therefore sometimes you dont know where the ball bounce, the greens are all fair, but if you miss the green, you will missed your ball too.
brock
good course tight faiways greens a little slow bunkers and lot of trees some water
Great Day
Course was in great shape and the greens were very challenging.
Peaceful Course
For someone who has never played Brock they will find it in a wooded setting, very peaceful. Great get away.
great course, poor facilities
Great course for the money. Course was in excellent condition. We played right after a 45 to 1 hour delay due to rain and the course still played great. Very few problems with standing water. Facilities left a lot to be desired. Especially the filthy restrooms.
Great old style course, poor turf
I used to play Brock a lot 35 years ago, in my college days and was in the area, so we decided to play. The layout is still challenging requiring accurate shots to narrow fairways and small greens. However, the fairways need to mowed, fertilized and weeds killed. The greens need TLC and mowing, but were o.k. The snack bar no longer exists so bring your own food and drinks. Oh, NO SMOKING on City of Houston courses.
Just Fun Place
Yes, its a muni...Yes, it see no love from the city...BUT the people are friendly and bring your own drinks. Great place to bring your wife or kids and folks won't be all over you. Look, my wife HATES to play with others, bc she's learning and it ruins her round. No one sweats it here! They can place through or wait, but it's not an issue. So enjoy a day with the fam here and knock it around some!
Too many wooded hazards
This course is challenging for a beginner like me. Other than there is to many uphill/downhill slopes. The tree lines are very close to the fairways which is easy to lose balls unless you hit the ball straight. Carefull with the uneven lies all during the course. This is my second time in 4 months that I play this course. Overall it is a challenging course and is good for a skilled golfer.
Straightforward for most part but a challenging layout.
Fairways needed to be mowed but that was due to the rain we had had. Greens rolled very well. Like the elevation changes on some holes. Need to really know the course especially on the back nine.
brock park gc
short golf course, painted greens, tee boxes a little sparse.
overall, not a bad links course to play.
Shawn
It was good. We played a week after they aeratated the greens and there was no mention of that anywhere so the greens were really bumpy and slow. Other than that it was a fun course
Hot Sumer time play
The course was in pretty good shape over all. Had some challenging holes which was nice. However there is no place to grab a drink other than a soda machine. There is no place to sit and refuel for the back 9. That was a huge disappointment for me. Driving range was irons only which also was a disappointment. Over all an okay course but I won't play it again for the single reason of refreshments.
GOOD GOLFING ATMOSPHERE FOR LEARNING GOLFER
Played at Noon and course was not quiet. With the improvement of my golfing skills the course was moderately challenging do the open fairways or I wasn't slicing the ball as i use to do. Played as a single and was not rushed and help me better my experience.
Good round
I have played Brock for years.
Woke up and found a great deal on Golf now for only one person, so I jumped on it.
The course is in fair condition, and always has been unless you play after it has rained for a week or so. It is the best "natural" public course, but with no money they let the fairway thin out and the greens while good have to be allowed to be high, so the grass does not die. Many of the players are just plain good people, no country club folk here, so there are times when the rules are not known, or the group in front has no idea they should let you play through. I love this course and will drive quite a distance the week after it rains, because at that point it plays like an upscale golf course at reasonable pricing.
Needso improvements.
Tee boxes are fine, fairways are good, a few greens need improvements, staff is friendly, carts are clean, pace is slow and they don't have a cafeteria, drinks and snacks are available.
Good value for fun course
The course could be in better shape, but for the price and fun golf that can be had here, I will happily return and donate some more balls for Red (the local ball finder) to sell back to me.
Good balance of challenging and easy holes.
Couple of the holes on this course are some of the hardest in Houston but fun to figure out. Course tends to get dry and dusty with some bare spots, but fairways are decent. Couple of greens have uneven grass growth and bare spots, but most are good.
Brock Park is a well conditioned, average course
Brock Park is a course that has recently been in better condition than previous years, this coming from my playing partner. The course, however, reminds me of so many municipal courses that contain a fairway that is mowed too high (surely to keep the course so well conditioned) and has greens that are glorified plateaus rising from the fairway. I paid $10 and it was exactly what I'd pay to play it again, but there are other courses that offer $10 tee times. If this course is close to your residence, give it a try. I drove too far, but was impressed with the conditioning.
course where all clubs are needed
typical muny course with decent fairways and tee boxes, but greens were scratchy and bumpy. golfnow rate makes this course a great deal.
houston's secret
For the price and condition of the course u can't beat playing Brock
