Little River Rocks
If you like a challenge, you'll find it here. Hit every club in the bag, long but wide fairways and large greens. Be careful though lots undulation on greens and very fast.
love course
Ahidden gem hope t return and play soon again
Great design, needs a manicure
The course offered great shot making and fairness of play for both men and women. However, the course itself need more attention and manicuring. It was very ragged in spots.
Littler River offers a Memorable Golf Outing
Earlier this month I discovered this beautiful golf course. While no 1 hole would appear to be their signature hole, my favourites were both no 9 and no 18, as they are both uphill and you kind of line up your shots towards the club house. All greens were in great shape for early season play. Each hole offers a different kind of challenge, which makes the layout very interesting and worth the drive North from Pinehurst, as it takes less than 30 minutes. Pace of play was very good, even a foursome me let me through just before starting No 9. Practice facilities are more than adequate. I would expect this course to become busier as the warmer weather thrickles in over the next few weeks.

It's winter golf
I don't much for course conditions in Jan, so no real news on that. However, it was clear that the greens were not being attended to. They were very grainy and slow, but relatively smooth.
The layout is good. Many different kinds of holes. Long, short, many elevations changes. doglegs, carries over water. It had everything. Par 3s were challenging. So the layout is fun.
Only layout issue I had was that there were many holes under 350 yards. Also, the difference in yardage between the tees on some holes is huge. Seniors I;m sure love all the advantage they get.
Low handicappers will want to play the tips.
Overall, fun to play. Will play again in the spring
Winter time golf
I don't expect great conditions in Jan. It had just snowed the week before, so the course was very soft. But wasn't sloppy wet, so seems to drain ok. The greens were the biggest issue. Just very grainy and slow. Again, it is Jan, but seems they haven't been cared for much in the off season.
The course itself has a very good variety of holes. straight, doglegs, water carries, elevation changes. Some are open, some have trees. So a good mix and to me that makes a course fun to play.
My only issue with the layout is that it is generally a shortish course from the white tees. Many Par 4s under 350 yards.
Differences between the tees are really big. The back tees can have some large differences, but seniors tees are way up in front. I'm sure they love it.
Would play again. Would like t play in the spring.
nice track, great value for the $
Played late morning on a hot deal, weather was perfect - mid 70s, sunny, little if any breeze. Fantastic value. Course conditions were quite good; although the greens rolled well they looked a bit worn. Not a simple track, positioning matters on several holes especially on the back. I would recommend. Playing it twice will help.
Pay attention to how GPS tries to bring you into course
Was a bit concerned when GPS told us to turn onto what looked like a buckboard wagon trail .5 miles from course. Thought I was going to bottom out our P/U many times...we weren't the only players that day that encountered this anomaly we found out. Stick to main roads...your car and your butts will thank you!
Once there though, was very pleased with what we had paid for through GN Hot Rate. Course is challenging without being an absolute soul crusher. We were paired with two others (Jacque and Giles, friends from early days in Canada) who played solid golf although Jacque couldn't buy a break on the greens that day. Greens were EXTREMELY fast and dared you putt downhill! Course was in excellent overall shape and other than having to suffer through some slow play due to groups in front of us, would recommend this course to those visiting the local area.
Fun and beautiful course
Playing from the gold tees (forward) shortened things enough for my average drives of 200 yards, that made for shorter approach shots and more fun. Golds take water out of play on 1 and 16. Could not find golds on 17 so I hit from white, carry over water there was about 160. Wide fairways and well kept grass throughout the first cuts.
Don't miss the back 9
Drizzly day so took a chance on GNow special figured if rained out not much loss. Wife & i both felt the chk in guy was snooty & dismissive so our expectations were low.
Front was nice, open but nice track. "Don't miss the back 9" means the course is entirely different- into the woods, up & down hills, water in play. That redeemed the day. I don't know why shop guys look down on golf now customers- it is intended to create return business & other than for our chk in guy i would return.
Feeding off the Pinehurst effect
As i pulled into the facility i was deeply depressed that I drove all the way down from Raleigh, I could already tell that this would be a substandard round. It was my first time to the pinehurst area and I expect great things. This place reminded me of a course that was once great and is now just holding on. I did like the layout of the course but the conditions I felt were subpar. If i would have paid anymore than the $19 I would have been suicidal. The whole property felt dead to me. The only savior was I took a drive to down to PH no2. As soon as I pulled into that place I felt invigorated, it felt special, there was an energy around the entire clubhouse, practice area and course. I would not recommend anyone to drive from RDU to play little river but if I lived within 15min it might be a course I frequent more often but not worth the drive BUT pinehurst IS!!
This course is good
Fairways were in great shape but the greens were terrible and bumpy with a lot of open gaps of.
Nice layout
We were given an alert that the greens had been aerated but they were still in very poor condition. There was almost no grass on any of them and they were mostly sand. The rest of the course was in fantastic shape. The best I've seen. The fairways were nice and the rough would cost you a shot. I would definitely wait until the greens have fully healed before playing it again.
Get what you pay for
Nice course. Tee boxes and fairways were nice. Unfortunately the greens were aerated and heavily sanded, messing up putting. I would have been annoyed if I payed full price, but I had a discount and it was a great day to be out. Cart paths could use some maintenance too.
I had a wonderful time.
I had a wonderful time. The course played a lot longer with the wind that blew into us on the first 5 holes. And with the lack of rain, the greens were slower but still very fair with the watering being done. The bunkers next to the greens were wet too. but still allowed enough sand to get underneath the ball. Make sure you stay in the short grass, the rough is very thick. I would definitely come back again.
Interesting Course
Our foursome enjoyed playing this course. Interesting, fun layout, scenic, particularly on the back nine. Fairways in good condition, rough was a little long and thick. Greens are showing signs of disease, some worse than others.
"Average" pace of play rating is the result of being behind the last foursome of an outing that were painfully slow and way behind the rest of the groups. Once they finished on the 11th hole, we sailed through the remaining 7 holes.
Overall, a good value.
Needs some TLC
This course must of been great once upon a time!
The lay out is great but that about it.
it seems to me that the owner are not putting any money back in their course, the green are in terrible shape, the cart path need to be redone, lots of the fencing and signage is missing.
This course as no "wow" factor
