The Muir of Ord Golf Club
About
Architect James Braid originally designed a nine-hole golf course at Muir of Ord Golf Club, but it's since been extended to 18. Today Muir of Ord is a heathland course with snug fairways and difficult greens that demand accuracy.
The club is open to visitors, and the facility includes a bar and changing rooms. Clubs are available for rent.
For golfers looking to do a little warm-up before their round, there's a practice area and putting green.

Even when very wet this course played well
We arrived in pouring rain and requested a delay to our booked start time. That was immediately accepted. We waited for the weather to abate enough to go out and by that time a buggy was available. We shared some entertaining conversations with the locals whilst waiting. The rain was incessant but the course still played well with little standing water anywhere. Although soaked to the skin the golf was enjoyable and thoroughly worth the green fee. Recommend to anyone in the area, but take care to pick your lines from the tee carefully!
Short but challening which suited my game
First time playing here as I was in the area and really enjoyed it. First four holes are set out well to get you into your game and no need for driver, all about being straight rather than long. Driver came out later on slightly longer holes.
Was obvious it had been raining heavy in recent days as on occasions underfoot conditions were a little wet but nothing that bothered me.
Greens were really good and easy to stop the ball, pity my putting was woeful even on the practice green afterwards.
I would easy return to play again hopefully on a deal though, didn't mind paying full price as I really enjoyed the course and layout.
Friendly course, quite hilly
An enjoyable course, fairly good condition and fun. Good value for the money. It is quite hilly and a number of fairways are very close to each other. Keep your eyes open. Power carts are available if hills are an issue for you.
Very enjoyable
Shortish course that has some great quirky holes (12th,13th) and some scary shots where you are in danger of variously - hitting a train, firing the ball onto the main road or braining a cow - well you are if you're me. Make sure you have one of their tasty bacon rolls before/after you play.
Staff very welcoming; fairways still recovering from a difficult winter when we played (early May '17).
great course
Lovely course. Some links style holes, some parkland. Tight in places. Quick greens.
Great Heathland course
I was recommended to play here by the Pro at Fortrose and Rosemarkie gc.
Definitely worthwhile a great test of golf not to long but demanding tee shots along the rail line. Small greens makes your approach a challenge protected by bunkers with plenty of sand. Winter golf doesn't get any better as the condition was great. Didn't get to try the facility's as had to dart but if it was as friendly as the pro the it wouldn't be half bad. I will definitely be back to avenge the beating my son handed me.
Muir of Ord
A really nice short par 68 course. Some tight tee to fairway holes with out of bounds on to a main road and railway line a various points on the course. Windy at times making some of the lengthy holes a challenge. Back to back par 3s can also be emotional.
