The Muir of Ord Golf Club
About
Architect James Braid originally designed a nine-hole golf course at Muir of Ord Golf Club, but it's since been extended to 18. Today Muir of Ord is a heathland course with snug fairways and difficult greens that demand accuracy.
The club is open to visitors, and the facility includes a bar and changing rooms. Clubs are available for rent.
For golfers looking to do a little warm-up before their round, there's a practice area and putting green.

a beautiful round of golf
A course to suit the accurate golfer. Some lovely holes.
Great course
If I won the lottery I would buy a house up here. Just to be able to play this great and varied layout would be a real treat.
Muir of Ord first round
Checked in for tee time confirmation the man behind the desk was excellent he was friendly, helpful and took time out to explain the course.
Got stuck behind a seniors 4 ball my god it was slow the round took about 4 hours. I think there needs to be a gap after the last seniors four ball before the others tee off or place the more spriitely members at the end of the competition.
We were not too annoyed as the person behind the desk explained what Was happening before we started our round which was fine.i met one of the seniors in the car park he apologised for them being slow and explained what happen which is cool.
The course is excellent some challenging holes which was great, the course condition is fabulous well done to the ground staff
Definitely do it again
Excellent Course
Played previously and each time wish had more time to play. Excellent greens and views are terrific. The greenkeepers are friendly as are the shop staff. Cannot wait to play again.
Greens fast
Spoiled by the wet weather.
Greens fast and tricky
Unable to hire a trolley due to Covid 19
James Braid gem
Quite a short course and fairly wide open would normally equal an easy day out, but there are more than enough challenges to keep your interest. Small fast greens with strategic bunkering, and when you do stray there's long wispy grass and loads of heather. Par three holes 12 and 13 are standout/stressful !
Great day out
The course was in cracking condition and super value for money.
A true gem of a course
Played this course for the second time and it was great, just like the first time. I just wish I stayed in Muir of Ord to be able to play this course every day.
The staff could not be friendlier nor more helpful.
The terrain makes it a true test of golf, interesting breaks on lots of greens.
We will be back.......
Well worth a visit
Really a gem of a course, first three holes are a bit tight but opens up to some lovely (and a few quirky) holes. Condition of course was fabulous and greens running true. Scenery is also beautiful around the course.Lovely little clubhouse with friendly staff in shop and clubhouse. Will definitely return.
Little Gem
Lovely course to play. After the first 4 holes the course really is great. Each hole is unique and lots of elevation changes. Amazing value...definitely one to play if you are in the area.
Great wee course even when the greens are frozen
I played early in the morning on a very cold December day. Play was off the normal tees and normal greens. Only restriction was not to hit off the fairways. This was great value at £10 and is a great wee course. Layout is good but not too challenging. Only problem was chipping onto frozen greens is a bit of a lottery - but that isn't a surprise. I'd strongly recommend this course at any time of the year if you are staying anywhere near Inverness.
Muir of Ord GC
Lovely golf course and good value for the money. Greens were in perfect condition for time of year. Will definitely play this course again.
Short But Testy
First time playing which happened to be after the area had snow, rain, and frost the previous week. There are only a few challenging holes of any real distance. Greens were quite slow and bumpy due to weather from previous week. The majority of holes are not particularly challenging - if you know where to hit your tee shots! I enjoyed the course layout so much that I played again one week later after the course had dried out and greens were much faster and true. Now with a little "course knowledge", I was able to drop 11 strokes from the previous round. Others have said the course layout is difficult to follow, but I had no problem using the course map on the back of the scorecard. Highly recommend.
Best of Ord
Played this course twice last year.
Couldn't wait to play it again and was not disappointed. Staff were very nice and had a great game on a great course. Well laid out and some great feature holes. A joy to play here.
Will be back soon.
