Terrible experience
Where do I begin... Most staff have no personality or friendliness from the pro shop to the people in the restaurant where I waited almost 25 minutes for a sandwich, got to the first tee and waited almost an additional 20 minutes to tee off which was passed our scheduled tee time the management here just continually stacks people on top of each other regarding tee times in two and a half hours we had played seven holes we had contacted the Pro shop three times after jumping holes to get ahead asking for a marshall to be sent out nobody would do anything nothing changed just terrible experience you spoke to the car barn staff and they said oh it's notorious here for management to stack people on top of another regarding tee times. No one cares to address the issue and we weren't the only ones who were frustrated. besides that greens were in terrible condition with tons of ball marks and poor upkeep. Really disappointed
One of my favorites
Always enjoy this course it's a fun. Challenging course one of my favorites in the greater inland Empire champions is the side I like to play always a good day on the course I will. Look forward to playing again soon!!!
Need to open club/lounge
Played Champions. Got a great price on GolfNow. Extremely challenging course. Very fun to play. Greens were a bit rough but overall the course is in very good condition. I would definitely play this course over and over and bring my out of state friends to play. Very impressive course. They do need to open the lounge/bar area for drinks and food to make it an overall experience.
Great course
This was my first time playing this course, and I was not disappointed. The course is a beautiful course with well-maintained, fairways roofs and greens. It is a well designed course and someone challenging for a beginner like me. Staff was extremely friendly. I will definitely go back to this course.
Best conditions ever -
I almost don’t want to write this, because I don’t want it to get full - best legit, shoutout to the golf course keepers- this course is legit in amazing shape, best I e ever seen and I’ve playing here for years!
beautiful golf course
I enjoyed being able to play rounds with good people. The course was good and the greens were well maintained.
Very challenging; greens are great, but the traps have no sand in them; I had real problems trying to hit it off the dirt. I’ll have to practice that before I play there again.
Be Patient
The Championship Course is as good a design as any public course in Riverside County. As soon as they complete the remodel of the snack bar, and spiff up the conditions of the course (probably Legends, too), Morongo Golf Club will be at the top of anybody’s daily fee list in Southern California.
A Great Layout
The Champions course is as good as any design layout in Riverside County, and the deals on Golf Now are excellent. The course is in good shape, but the fairways, bunkers and greens need to be spiffed up a bit.
Course very playable after heavy rains
I was surprised how playable the course was after 2 days of heavy rains. The bunkers were all filled with water- but the fairways were in very good condition with only a few wet spots. Greens were receptive and rolling true.
xlnt course
3 issues - 1. hard sand in a lot of traps 2. greens not as pristine like the rest of the course 3. course is hard enough without having very difficult pen placements especially for the average golfer
5-1/2 slow round, no marshall
This 5-1/2 hour round had us waiting on every hole, with no marshall
Good Bye Golfnow
A few months ago, we purchased a t-time in Florida. I found out later it was cheaper to just reserve a time directly with the course. Upon canceling the time with Golf Now, they gave me a credit. I belong to a Country Club in SoCal, so I don't use Golf Now, but figured sooner or later I would. A couple of months passed and I received a email from GN, stating I had 6 months from cancellation to use the credit, in which was in excess of $250.00. Not only that, it had to be used on "Hot Deals".
Needless to say, we did Morongo Championship course. The earliest time we could get was 12:04. As of right now, I don't believe I'll use Golf Now again!!
What happened ?
I had not played this course in ten years and I was excited to introduce it to a group of golfing friends. With all the rain in the past few months I expected to find the course in great shape. Much to my disappointment the course has not been maintained very well in particular the bunkers have no sand in them, only dirt and rocks. The greens which are well designed with multiple levels needed attention. The only saving grace were the fairways which were is very good condition. This course is well designed and deserves better care. Also no food available in the club house and only saw the cart girl once on the 14th hole. Come on Morongo, you can do better.
What happened
I brought a group of friends here to play the Champions course as I have played this course about 5 or 6 times around 10 years ago. It used to be in far better shape. The bunkers were the worst part, more like a gravel pits. No sand to speak of. In the bunkers. The driving range is in very poor condition. The course has possibly the best layout of any course in the inland empire. So sad it see it being neglected.
Dannenr
Great value, greens are nice, course is great, but tough, so play from easier tees for more fun!
Great layout. Tee to green very good. Greens are tough.
We lucked out and had very little wind. This course is a bear in the wind.
This is our go to course for playing a penalizing course. Desert shrub everywhere just a few steps from the fairway. It's not an unfair setup... You just pay for any shot a bit wide. Tough green complexes and impossible sand saves.
Only big complaint are the concrete like and rock filled bunkers. Practice bunker shots off your driveway or concrete patio flooring. Was in 3 bunkers. Easily cost me 2-3 strokes with no chance of up and down (got lucky once where ball in bunker was on top of a rock and I could get a wedge under it).
