Resort Overview

The Woods is located halfway between Berkeley Springs and Martinsburg in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle. Northern gateway to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, the panhandle is home to our 1,800-acre resort, conference center and golf & recreational community. We are convenient to most Eastern U.S. metropolitan areas.

Originating in 1976 as a vacation home community, The Woods today has grown to include deluxe accommodations, an outstanding restaurant, year-round recreation, a conference center for groups of up to 100, thirty-six holes of golf ( 3 1/2 star, Golf Digest) and nearly 1000 vacation, retirement and primary homes, most with great views of fairways, ponds and mountains or sited on heavily wooded homesites.

Whether for a day of great golf, a relaxing weekend getaway, or a lifetime of casual golf community living, The Woods offers something for everyone.

Golf Overview

The 6,500-yard, par 72 Woods Mountain View Championship Course highlights our recreational offerings. For a quick round after meeting all day, try our Stony Lick 18 hole mid-length course, which has some of the most beautiful and challenging holes of golf at The Woods.

Golf Courses

Mountain View Course

Architect:  Ray Johnston
Description:
The 18-hole Mountain View Course wanders around a wooded plateau between The Woods Pro Shop and the Third Hill Mountain, which dominates its views. Most holes play flat and fair, but many golfers are happy to ride carts up and down the hills between some greens and tees. Carved from a forest, Mountain View's fairways are framed by dogwood, maple, oak, and pine trees. A variety of housing types and architectural styles line the fairways.
