Resort Overview

The Tides Inn is a destination beyond compare. Situated on a bluff overlooking Carters Creek and on to the Rappahannock River, the resort is highlighted by superbly manicured grounds and gardens. While originally a well kept secret among friends and travelers, the Tides Inn has grown in size, facilities, and reputation.

Golf Overview

The Tides Inn is the home of the famous and challenging Golden Eagle Golf Club. For over 25 years, the Golden Eagle has distinguished itself by hosting numerous VSGA events and is heavily bunkered and with water in play on six holes. From the blue tees, The Golden Eagle is 6,511 yards and has a USGA rating of 70.9 and a slope of 126.

Golf Courses

Golden Eagle Course at The Tides Inn

Architects:  George Cobb &
John LaFoy
Description:
Opened for play in 1976, The Golden Eagle is a proud design of George W. Cobb and his associate John LaFoy. Carved out of beautiful Virginia wooded landscape around a 50-acre lake, The Golden Eagle Golf Course has many elevation changes and is bunkered by more than 90 traps. The Bermuda fairways and Bent grass putting surfaces play to a par of 72. There are three major water shots and the most interesting (and difficult!) are holes 5,9,17 and 18. Seven and 16 can also play harder than par

Dining

With five unique restaurants, dining at the Tides Inn is a celebrated event. The Dining Room is the Tides Inn's most elegant restaurant where jackets are still required for men after 6 pm. As you enjoy a panoramic view of the Tides Marina and Carters Creek, you will savor traditional Southern-style regional cuisine like scrambled eggs with buttermilk biscuits, sausage gravy and fried oysters for breakfast or Roasted Rockfish Chesapeake crab, Smithfield ham, scallions and bay butter sauce for dinner.

Adjacent to The Dining Room is the Chesapeake Club offering panoramic views and entertainment nightly. Located upstairs in the clubhouse at The Golden Eagle Golf Course, Cap'n B's New Orleans-style restaurant features a hammered tin ceiling, belt-driven ceiling fans, and an antique oak and marble bar in a country club setting.

Spa

It is one of God’s better endeavors, this land they call the Northern Neck. The long, twisting, placid rivers rinse the fingers of land on their way to the Chesapeake Bay, bringing fresh water to salt and creating the perfect habitat for rock fish, shad and spot, blue crab and the aristocratic oyster.

The Tides Inn celebrates the comfort, healing, and renewal of the water, as well as the heritage, tradition, and spirit of the English. Here, by the edge of the lapping waters of Carters Creek, is a fitting home for the Spa. The Spa embodies our connection to these tranquil, therapeutic surroundings, providing a perfect setting for rejuvenating one’s mind, soul and body.

Meetings

The Tides Inn offers a variety of meeting rooms totaling 8000 sq. ft. The gracious atmosphere of the Tides Inn is a perfect setting for both business and recreational gatherings. With our new and improved accommodations, personalized service and award-winning cuisine, it is understandable that so many of our friends return annually for their meetings. We've hosted some conferences for more than 20 consecutive years.
