Resort Overview
Welcome to the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. Make plans to enjoy the Shawnee Experience. Nestled on the banks of the Delaware River, this timeless jewel has been specializing in memories since 1911. The Shawnee experience includes Golf, Canoeing, Rafting, Tubing, Professional Theatre, Skiing, Swimming, Fine Dining, Friendly Service and more. The Shawnee Inn is the perfect destination for your next golf outing, meeting, wedding or a simple getaway. Golf Overview
Shawnee's island golf course was designed and built in 1906 by A.W. Tillinghast of Winged Foot and Baltusrol fame, and has hosted national tournaments including the 1938 PGA Championship (Paul Runyan beat Sam Snead 8 & 7) and the 1967 NCAA Championship (won by Hale Irwin). The rich history of Shawnee golf also includes show business greats who made our course their home. Fred Waring actually owned the Inn and golf course for 30 years, and Jackie Gleason learned to play here. Gleason shot 143 his first time around, but within fifteen months he was breaking 80. Other entertainment luminaries who could be seen at Shawnee include Ed Sullivan, Art Carney and Perry Como. Trivia buffs may remember that Arnold Palmer met his wife Winnie at Shawnee.
