The Balsams is "New England's Resort", an historic destination high in New Hampshire's White Mountains and deep in the Great North Woods. Since 1897, golf has been a favorite guest activity at The BALSAMS. Legendary golf architect, Donald Ross, built upon the resort's early experiment with golf (a six-hole layout in 1897) by designing The PANORAMA 18-hole course in 1912. Ross personally supervised the construction of this 6,804-yard layout high on the western side of Keyser Mountain. The course is a scenic masterpiece.

The operation of the dining room is under the year-round direction of Maître d' Hôtel, John White, whose tenure at The Balsams began in 1986.

Maître d' Hôtel White, along with the popular dining room captains, attend to the service details of every guest at every meal, the service is superb. Scores of well-trained, smartly uniformed waiters present the table d' hôte menus with style. Returning guests frequently request their same table service team for every visit.
