The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village

Play the only course in the world designed by Hall of Fame golfers Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. The spectacular synergy of their contrasting styles of play and course design has created a remarkable layout, a modern classic that challenges amateurs and pros alike, with five sets of tees, measuring 5,195 yards from the front to 7,247 yards from the back.

Floradwarf, a new variety of Bermuda grass, was used for the turf of The King & The Bear, while 419 Bermuda grass was used for the tees, fairways and rough. Large shell-like coquina rocks trim the course’s lakes. Loblolly pines provide the greenery for the front nine while giant 200-year-old oak trees shade the back.

The King & The Bear is an unforgettable course that you must play at least once in your life. Once you do, you’ll want to come back to challenge it again and again.

Designed by Bobby Weed with input and inspiration from both Slammin’ Sammy Snead and Gene “The Squire” Sarazen, this classic layout meanders naturally through native flatwoods and hardwood hammocks bordering wetland preserves and a wildlife habitat. The course is nestled into the existing surroundings so as not to disturb the area’s pristine natural setting.

In the spirit of the World Golf Village’s mission, The Slammer &The Squire is challenging without unfairly penalizing the amateur player. Par is 72, with five sets of tees per hole to accommodate all levels of play.

Lakes provide strategic challenges, while gently rolling fairways, tees, and greens feature a new Florida breed of Bermuda grass that ensures delightfully unparalleled playing conditions.
