Las Colinas, nominated as Golf Digest's 1992 "Best New Resort Course" and a recipient of Golf for Women's "Top FairWays" recognition, offers quite a different challenge from El Campeon. Its wide open fairways and gentle rolling hills create an inland links design. Greens are large and undulating, while the course's classic old architecture style demands proper shot placement. The signature par 5, 12th hole "Allgator Alley", is 493 yards along one of the few tree-lined fairways, requiring accuracy from tee to green.

El Campeon was designed by golf course architect, Charles Clarke of Troon, Scotland, who blended unusual elevation changes of more than 85 feet with features of traditional golf design. Rolling fairways and undulating greens only begin to characterize El Campeón. The signature hole is the par 5, 17th, a long, double dogleg that has more obstacles than do some entire courses.
