I do financing for Americans that want to buy in Mexico. One thing you might need to add on the related topic is that American Title companies, and mortage banks are now offering title insurance in Mexico, as well as dollar financing.
I been doing it for less than a year, and the demand is growing. Americans, as well as Europeans, are buying most of the costal beach front. In a couple of years, Mexico will have first-world cities in a third-world country. I have seen the change in Cabo, as well as many cities in Baja. They are really taking the concept of gated comunities to the extreme.
