| Reader Lance Kulman said that after talking with Annika Sorenstam, he's positive she'll return to top form in 2008. (Chris Baldwin/GolfPublisher.com) |
I read your recent article about Lorena Ochoa taking over No. 1 from Annika due to her neck injury which affected her back ("2007 was the year of Lorena Ochoa as she finally knocks aside Annika Sorenstam"). Since I played golf with (Sorenstam) about two weeks ago, I asked the question, "How's the back and are you ready to come back in 2008?"
She assured me that she was ready to go and that the doctor's have given her the go ahead. She works out with Kai Fusser, her trainer, at the Annika Academy at the GINN Reunion Resort in Orlando.
I can assure you that after playing a few holes with her she will be ready for next year so Lorena should be prepared because I do not think that it will be as easy as it was this year. Lorena is a very good player, but she is not an "Annika."

"It is a little far fetched that Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada only have a couple of Top 100 courses in the Golf Magazine list. I have played both We-Ko-Pa Golf Club courses in Scottsdale many times, and let me tell you, it compares with almost any of the Top 100 except the obvious few (Augusta National, Pine Valley, etc)."

I guess Mr. Lance Kulman has bitten his tongue; so far with Lorena killing Annika in most of the 2008 tournaments, just go back and see Lorena's stats for the last 3 years and if that is not enough see what she did on the NCAA some years ago. Lorena is by far the best golfer....... time will tell

In response to your article "Lorena is no Anika" I beleive that Anika's time is up already, and you're just feeling that nostalgia of a great champion, but take a look at Ochoa's at just 25 years of age. She still has a long time to go and she already broke Anika's earnings record as well as others. So we all love a legend, but Lorena has legend written all over her.
Viva Ochoa!

from Francisco "She still has a long time to go and she already broke Anika's earnings record as well as others"
Money is not a measure of greatness. Take a look how many PGA Tour journeymen have surpassed Jack Nicklaus' earnings.
Anika lost No.1 ranking due to injury. Let's wait until end of 2008 season before we put her out to pasture.
