Let 'er rip at Wicked Stick Golf Links in Surfside Beach, South Carolina
SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. -- The John Daly-Clyde Johnston collaboration at Wicked Stick Golf Links attracts a lot of attention in several ways.
It's right on the U.S. 17 bypass, a busy thoroughfare through Myrtle Beach, S.C., it's a links-style golf course with plenty of room to let 'em rip and it has the John Daly aura of bad-boy golf.
The combinations work. It's a great let-off-some steam course on which you blast some shots without getting into too much trouble, thanks to mounds that nudge wayward shots back on course and an absence of fairway bunkers. You also can refine your game at the greens, which are beset with huge sand bunkers and scattered pot bunkers. It's a friendly, fun atmosphere for men and women.
At Wicked Stick, it's not hard to imagine yourself as John Daly for a day -- John on a good day.
