True Blue is the younger sister golf course to Caledonia Golf & Fish Club on Pawleys Island south of Myrtle Beach. Both golf courses were designed by late architect Mike Strantz, but that's about where the similarities end.
True Blue is a bold design on much more acreage, with wide fairways and not much rough. The main difficulty comes in hitting the greens: Many holes do not allow run-up approaches, especially Nos. 3 and 16 with their menacing water and bunker guards. The course is reputed one of the Grand Strand's most difficult, but that assessment is somewhat out of date, as it's been softened since its 1998 opening. Many low handicappers actually argue shorter and tighter Caledonia is the tougher play. although high handicappers will undoubtedly have a harder time here.
