Tradition Golf Club south of Myrtle Beach
Tradition Golf Club in Pawleys Island, S.C. is a bit of a hidden gem - if there is such a thing in the heavily trafficked Grand Strand golf mecca.
But this Myrtle Beach-area golf course is not one to be missed on the south strand. It's a Ron Garl design that features a pleasant Lowcountry vibe, exceptional conditioning and outstanding facilities.
The Tradition Golf Club plays just under 6,900 yards from the championship tees, and there are several water carries here, including the par-4 seventh hole, which is the longest of the bunch.
The collection of par 3s are notable, too. No. 15 features a carry over water to an elevated, enormous green that, given the pin position, yields putts well over 100 feet up the hill. There is also plenty of bunkering here, from large waste areas to smaller, greenside bunkers that can be steep at points. Be sure to show up early for your tee time, as there is a massive practice putting green and driving range host to a golf school.
The Tradition Golf Club is an exceptional value for the upscale Pawleys Island, home to many of the Grand Strand's top courses like Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and the Heritage Club.
