TPC Louisiana near New Orleans, Louisiana
AVONDALE, La. - In true Pete Dye fashion, there's plenty of trouble at the TPC Louisiana, which hosts the PGA Tour's Zurich Classic.
Most notably, there are 103 bunkers of all shapes and sizes. One is as long as 150 yards and includes six small islands of turf. Sixty-two of the sand hazards are pot bunkers and will snag careless tee shots and approaches, resulting in at least a one-stroke penalty in most cases.
With the input of player consultants Steve Elkington and New Orleans native Kelly Gibson, Dye designed a golf course with five different tee configurations to test the best players in the world as well as the weekend warrior.
There's also plenty of water, mounding and towering trees on this par-72, 7,520-yard golf course.
The TPC Louisiana is one of 12 golf courses on Louisiana's Audubon Golf Trail, designed to promote tourism and golf in the state.
