The TPC Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet just south of Myrtle Beach is a striking modern design by Tom Fazio. It features all the staples of a TPC course: high drama and large, challenging greens that are usually heavily guarded by bunkers. High-handicappers may struggle with low-running shots to these greens, as many are elevated or crowned.
Though not on the Intracoastal Waterway or on any saltwater marsh property, the TPC is still very scenic. It's is a very natural course with little housing and loads of bird life.
After closing in the summer of 2007 for renovations, it's now in fine shape, especially the greens, which are very firm and smooth. It's facilities are also all top-notch, from complimentary range balls to the clubhouse and locker room facilities that are built for the pros.
