Tiger Woods sank a 12-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole to edge Sean O'Hair by one stroke and claim his sixth Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard title Sunday at Bay Hill Club & Lodge.
In his victory, Woods shoot a final-round score of 3-under-par 67 to match his biggest comeback after 54 holes, overcoming a five-shot deficit for the 19th comeback victory in his 66 career wins. Previously, Woods rallied back from a five-stroke deficit after 54 holes to win the 2000 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
It was the first victory for Woods since his return from knee surgery last summer. His previous win came at the 2008 U.S. Open.
"It feels good to be back in contention, to feel the rush," Woods told reporters after finishing the tournament at 5-under 275 to repeat as champion at Bay Hill and earn the $1.08 million first-place check. "It's been a while, but, God, it felt good."
With the victory, Woods is the first player to win six Arnold Palmer Invitational titles. Tom Kite (1982 and 1989) and Loren Roberts (1994 and 1995) are the only other players with multiple wins in the tournament.
O'Hair, who owned a five-shot lead heading into the final round, faltered with a 3-over 73 and settled for second at 4-under 276.
