Take on Johnny Miller at Schaffer's Mill Club in Truckee, California
Located north of Lake Tahoe in the mountain town of Truckee, California, Schaffer's Mill Club is the newest upscale real estate and golf club development to the area.
Originally known as Timilick Club, the private golf course opened for play in 2009 and is now welcoming promotional play from the general public. Schaffer's Mill Club was designed by Johnny Miller and John Harbottle and plays 7,022 yards from the championship tees. The front side is more gentle, weaving through trees at the base of the ridge, while the back nine trudges up and down a mountain and makes for some dramatic shot making.
Schaffer's Mill features plenty of opportunities to be aggressive, as there are two drivable par 4s (including the 302-yard 11th) as well as the 14th hole, a 502-yard par 5 that plays from an elevated tee, downhill and back up to an elevated green littered with bunkers surrounding it.
The golf course is located just down the road from Truckee's commuter airport in the event you'd like to reach the via your private aircraft.
