Willow Glen remains the headliner at Sycuan Golf Resort near San Diego, California
EL CAJON, Calif. -- Willow Glen is one of three 18-hole courses at Sycuan Golf Resort in El Cajon, a small town just northeast of San Diego. Sycuan was formerly a private club named Singing Hills Country Club. Today it's one of the area's most complete golf facilities and has an on-site lodge that was recently renovated.
The Willow Glen Course is considered by many as the headliner at Sycuan, thanks in part to a handful of the property's most spectacular holes. The fourth hole, from an elevated tee box, plays down to a green with water all around, while the par-3 12th features a large pond, water and rock formations. The course culminates with a short par 3, another tip this course was built in another era.
The home facility to San Diego State University's golf team, Willow Glen is still plenty challenging for top players despite a length of less than 6,700 yards. Much of this is a result of narrow fairways lined with trees and sharp doglegs.
Set on 425 acres of valley floor surrounded by mountains, Sycuan Resort is also home to Oak Glen, as well as an 18-hole executive course, Pine Glen.
