Sweetgrass Golf Club in Harris, Michigan
HARRIS, Mich. -- Sweetgrass Golf Club, with its generous fairways and large greens, is one of the most playable layouts on Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Designed by Jerry Matthews protege Paul Albanese, the golf course makes good use of wetlands and gently rolling terrain to create a golf experience that's enjoyable by all levels of players.
Highlights of the golf course, which is part of the Island Resort & Casino, include the sloping "biarritz" green on the par-3 12th, the island green par-3 15th as well as the double green shared by the finishing par 5s on both nines. Sweetgrass Golf Club, which features five sets of tees and can be stretched to nearly 7,300 yards, is named for an indigenous plant that has a sweet vanilla smell when burned and is found around the golf course.
