St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino: A Caribbean hideaway

FRIGATE BAY, St. Kitts -- The St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino serves as the centerpiece of St. Kitts, a small island in the Lesser Antilles 1,300 miles southeast of Miami.

Built in 2003, all 393 guest rooms and suites are oversized to provide maximum comfort. The casino is the largest Vegas-style casino in the Caribbean. Three pools are spread throughout the resort courtyard near the North Frigate Bay Beach. A revitalizing spa, a fitness center, meeting facilities, three lounges and a kids club program give the Marriott a diversity that caters to most any traveler.

Of the eight restaurants, Blu Seafood Restaurant, Royal Grille Steakhouse and La Cucina are the best. To get a real feel for the local nightlife, head out on a pub crawl to the tiny beach bar shacks -- appropriately named places like Ziggy's and Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack and Monkey Bar -- along the South Frigate Bay Beach.

Royal St. Kitts Golf Club transformed following a 2003 redesign by Thomas McBroom created nine new holes. The back-nine finish starting at No. 14 is as picturesque as they come right along the shore.
