Championship golf and mountain scenery at Somersett Golf & Country Club in Reno, Nevada
RENO, Nev. -- Somersett Golf & Country Club, which opened in 2005, is one of the Reno area's newest semi-private golf courses.
Somersett was designed by Tom Kite, Roy Bechtol and Randy Russell and can play as long as 7,252 yards from the championship tees, making it a great test for low-handicappers. The course plays on rolling, high-desert ground with tremendous Sierra-Nevada mountain views. Part of a new residential community, Somersett has especially large landing zones (up to 400 feet wide in many areas), and the greens are large and often well guarded with water and bunkers.
There are five sets of tees at Somersett, which plays as short as 5,200 yards, plus a "combo" set between the middle and middle-back sets. There are two sets of forward tees, which help make Somersett a great option for players of all abilities.
