River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard, California
OXNARD, Calif. -- River Ridge Golf Club is home to two challenging 18-hole courses. The Vineyard Course is the club's original layout. With the abundant variety on the course, golfers will feel like they are playing two different layouts. The front nine snakes uphill to the highest elevation in Oxnard, which is where the third through the sixth holes are located. Needless to say, the ocean views are unmatched. The wide fairways and rolling hills of the front nine contrast nicely with the back nine's mostly flat terrain. There is also water on every hole on the back nine, most notably on the par-3 14th. The tricky island green is the reason why it is the signature hole on this Billy Bell Jr. design. The course offers nearly eight acres of water.
The second course at River Ridge G.C., the Victoria Lakes Course, was added in 2008. It quickly gained a reputation as being one of the most challenging courses in the county, partly due to its demanding 13th hole. This formidable par-4 is a double dogleg that plays into the wind. To make it even trickier, it is also bordered by water on both sides.
