Rio Secco Golf Club delivers the million-dollar shot -- and million-dollar views -- near Las Vegas
HENDERSON, Nev. -- The Rio Secco Golf Club, home of the 2012 Wendy's 3Tour Challenge, aims to deliver the ultimate Las Vegas golf experience.
It wraps up all the excesses of Sin City into one perfect package, incorporating splashes of sex appeal, celebrity, gambling and the natural beauty of the desert landscape to stimulate golfers.
The female caddies, called T-Mates, play the role of sexy servants who can flirt and read your putt at the same time. Swing guru Butch Harmon serves as the famous face of Rio Secco, home to his original golf school. The gamble comes at the tough par-3 seventh hole, where golfers can buy into the Million Dollar Hole-in-One Challenge. An ace in qualifying affords three shots at another hole-in-one for the grand prize every year.
Rio Secco's setting in the foothills of the Black Mountain Range distracts golfers from how tough Rees Jones made the 7,313-yard course in 1997. Fantastic views of the Las Vegas Strip are revealed from a number of the elevated tee boxes. Highlights come while hitting over a canyon on the par-3 third hole and into the 17th green surrounded by rock canyon walls.
