Rio Secco
About
Designed by Rees Jones and Keith Evans, Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson affords great views of the Las Vegas Strip below as golfers try to find the course's tricky bentgrass greens. Said greens can be difficult to read, and if you find yourself above the hole, two-putts become a real challenge. One of the most talked about holes, the 200-yard par-3 12th, plays over a valley to a large green that slopes severely from back to front. Back pin positions are difficult, but a front location can yield aces as everything seems to funnel to that spot. Rio Secco is also home to the Butch Harmon School of Golf.

Glad I did it once ...
It is a nice course and half of it winds through some very expensive houses.
However the layout is completely backwards, the original layout was flipped from how it plays now and front and back nine are like playing 2 different courses.
Staff was very nice. Pricey for what it is.
Fantastic Course, Fantastic Staff.
Everyone and I mean everyone, from groundskeepers to pro shop workers stopped to ask how my round was or was going. One gentleman even stopped me after walking off a green and chatted to me about the history of the course. Loved the layout and course was in decent shape for spring in Vegas. Hope to come back and play again.
A Must Play
If you're traveling to Vegas, and haven't played Rio Secco, you need to put it on the top of your list. The course cuts through beautiful Neighborhoods with excellent views of million dollar plus homes. The layout is fair and challenging. My only negative from the round was the pace of the greens, they were super fast and hard to hold on the approach, but I'll be back.
Good Course, but watch yourself on 10!
This course is beautiful with 1 problem: #10 Tee is a Death Trap. We were on the tee of number 10 and almost got hit by a ball not once, not twice, but 3 times. 3 TIMES! The golf balls were coming from the Butch Harmon School of Golf on the opposite side of the driving range and the students were hitting drives that were landing on the 10th tee. The wind was not a factor as there was no wind. My one recommendation for this course is to put up some kind of net or protection because the 10th tee is VERY dangerous.
Tough course
1st time playing here and it was very enjoyable. Staff was great and pace of play was perfect. One thing to know is greens are very hard and fast! Guess thats winter conditions in the desert because all 3 courses I played were the same. If I had 1 gripe it would be the consistency of the traps around the greens, some were ok and some were bad. I would definitely play again.
Greens
Couldn’t hold the ball on the greens, they were like concrete. Starter called me out that I didn’t pay ,he got a call from the clubhouse, showed him my receipt, I payed in cash, they were not very organized. Maybe that’s why they were not busy.
Very difficult
The course is a beautiful layout but very difficult! Narrow fairways, hard playing conditions make this really tuff. Beware!
Tough Greens
Course was in great shape with exception of the greens. Overall condition was hindered due to winter... However, the course needs to strongly encourage players to fix ball marks.
Beautiful course
I love this course, it’s always in good shape. Staff is really courteous and friendly. The practice range is great too.
Perfect Golf Day
Mild temperature high was 95, little bit of wind otherwise sunny perfect for golf. The course had undergone yearly maintenance a month before, the fairways and greens were in perfect conditions for our tee time. Had a great time, highly recommend playing and spending time at the 19th hole.
$200 is fair price for a course this nice!
Resort golf typically comes with a high price, which is not always indicative of a high quality golf course. Not so at Rio Secco- course is a great layout with tee boxes for all skill levels.. I am a 28 index and the Yellow tees (recommended for my handicap) made the game enjoyable and I was able to keep up with my group. Gorgeous views of Las Vegas hotels from several holes.
Perfect course
Beautiful scenery, perfect conditions, VERY hard course. Know your clubs and distances.
Thanks for playing Rio Secco. Glad you found the staff and course nice. For clarification, the current routing is actually how the course was designed. The nines were flipped in 2006, but we reverted back to the original routing in 2017.
