Fly high on the Norman Course at Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colorado
WOLCOTT, Colo. -- The debate at Red Sky Golf Club will never end. Just which is better, the Norman Course or Fazio Course? Just like individual golfers, raters at national magazines are split.
Red Sky's 7,580-yard Greg Norman Course ranks higher in the most recent top 100 public lists at Golf Magazine (no. 43 vs. unranked in 2014) and Golf Digest (no. 79 vs. no. 86 in 2015-16).
The Fazio rates higher among the top public golf courses in Colorado by Golfweek (no. 3 vs. no. 10 in 2015).
The Norman Course ebbs and flows on the highest piece of property at Red Sky, delivering awe-inspiring views of the surrounding mountains. Players will encounter a pond (at the par-3 fifth), a stream crossing four holes (nos. 3, 9, 10 and 18) and plenty of sculpted bunkers. Elevation changes come to a head at no. 16, a par 3 that plummets off the tee. Play the slope of the land both off the tee and on the greens. That will help you score.
Red Sky, while technically a private club with a separate members-only clubhouse, rotates public access to one of its golf courses every day, catering to guests at high-end resorts throughout the Vail Valley. Ask your concierge if you're lucky enough to make a tee time on the Norman Course or Fazio Course at Red Sky G.C.
