The Quarry Golf Club is one of San Antonio's more distinct rounds of golf, thanks to an old stone quarry the course is set in on the back nine, making for some dramatic scenery. It also adds excitement because several shots have to be played over quarry walls, including the signature "Reload" 17th tee shot. No. 12 and 13 both play around the "Alcatraz" lake and demand carries as well.
The front nine, while not as memorable as the unique quarry side, has many water hazards and some especially dramatic par 3s. There is also more roll in the land here, so you'll hit some uphill and downhill shots.
Quarry Golf Club is under 6,700 yards from the championship tees, likely a result of the small acreage the designers had to work with in the heart of metropolitan San Antonio. It's about shot making, not distance.
