VILLAGE OF PINEHURST, N.C. -- Pinehurst No. 7 is the second most recent course design of the eight courses at the Pinehurst Resort (if you're counting the original 1919 design of Pinehurst No. 4 before the Tom Fazio redesign).
No. 7 winds through a residential community on most spots. Topographically it's the most severe of the Pinehurst courses and demands many uphill approach shots to elevated greens, while there are also numerous elevated tee shots as well. The course plays 7,216 yards from the championship tees (only No. 2 is longer from the U.S. Open tees) and features five sets of tees as close as 5,183 yards. Originally built in 1986, the course reopened in 2003 after a 10-month closure to renovate the golf course, which included rebuilding green complexes and adding bunkers and length.
No. 7 is located in its own clubhouse and location about a 5-10 minute shuttle drive from the main Pinehurst village.
