The PineHills course at Myrtlewood Golf Club in Myrtle Beach was little more than an executive course until 1993 when designer Arthur Hills was asked to make it a second championship course on the property.
While both PineHills and the Palmetto course are very popular and add up to over 100,000 rounds annually, PineHills receives more member play and is a more strategic, but shorter golf course. There is more artificial mounding and contours in the fairway and around the greens.
PineHills plays just over 6,600 yards from the back tees compared to Palmetto's 6,900 yards, but PineHills' slope rating is a 133 compared to 121. It's a tighter golf course with more difficult and sloped greens.
Myrtlewood is located off Highway 17 just north of the Highway 501 interchange in Myrtle Beach.
