Some have called the Stadium Course at PGA West in La Quinta, California the "most difficult golf course in the world." While that's a claim that's hard to validate, architect Pete Dye certainly threw enough hazards around to challenge the best players in the world. And even though the course was recently softened a bit, it still has a course rating of 76.1 and a slope of 150.
It's no wonder, then, that the Stadium Course has not only hosted the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, the Skins Game and the PGA Club Professional Championship, but also tests the mettle of tour candidates in the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament.
The Stadium Course is one of the five courses available to the public at PGA West, which is known as "The Western Home of Golf in America." PGA West, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2008, is also one of the most picturesque golf settings in the world, especially during the winter when the course is overseeded against the backdrop of the Santa Rosa Mountains of Southern California.
