Orna Golf Club in Melaka, Malaysia
Orna Golf Club is a championship, 27-hole golf course in Melaka, Malaysia, about two hours south of Kuala Lumpur. It's a stern test designed by Pete Dye's nephew, Andy Dye, who has an extensive portfolio in Asia.
This 1997 design has a familiar Dye-family appearance in many spots, especially where there are steep ridges, and no hole looks more "Dye" than the East's par-5 seventh, a sharp, dramatic dogleg right over water to a green guarded heavily with traps. It's easily the most intimidating approach shot on the golf course, though the East's ninth, a long par 4, has the look of any PGA Tour closing hole.
Orna Golf Club is a former host to the Davidoff Tour Qualifying School, and while its layout is tough and long enough to host the pros (up to 6,700 meters), the greens are quite slow on a daily basis.
