It's hard to beat a golf trip to northern Michigan. With a variety of courses, mild temperatures and northern Michigan in full bloom, northern Michigan's golf courses are at their best in the summer.

This particular week started at Boyne Highlands Resort with the Donald Ross Memorial and Heather Courses. Then it was off to the spectacular Bay Harbor Golf Club built above the shores of Lake Michigan. Across the street from Bay Harbor is another Boyne USA course, Crooked Tree.

Next up was the charming town of Charlevoix. Historic Belvedere Golf Club, which has played host to 39 Michigan State Amateur Championships. Not to be outdone, it was off to the exclusive Kingsley Club, which runs like a British Open venue, about an hour away.

Finally, this weeklong trip was capped by a night at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City and a round on Jack Nicklaus' Bear Course.

Each golf course was different; all were in terrific shape and none disappointed. Best of all, you can do it all over again in northern Michigan and play a completely different set of courses.
