Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, Myrtle Beach

The first signature design by the late Mike Strantz, Caledonia Golf & Fish Club is one of the Grand Strand's most acclaimed upscale courses. Opened in 1994, Caledonia shares space on Pawleys Island with another celebrated Strantz course, True Blue Plantation.

Built on just 120 acres and playing to just over 6,500 yards from the championship tees, Caledonia feels much bigger thanks to some imaginative routing and an unusual amount of undulation for a Myrtle Beach course. Despite having only four feet of natural elevation to work with, Strantz moved plenty of earth to create an aesthetically unique layout featuring a good deal of water. It's also one of the few modern Grand Strand clubs with no houses on the course, only handful lining the outside the property. It's a pricey (more than $200 in high season) but universally praised play.
