Muang Kaew Golf Club in Bangkok
Sprawling Bangkok, the largest city in Thailand, is riddled with golf courses around its perimeter. The closest to the city center is Muang Kaew Golf Club, opened in 1992 and recently redesigned and upgraded by Schmidt-Curley Design.
The golf course, more than 7,000 yards from the championship tees, plays through low-lying, wooded areas with lots of water hazards. Its convenience requires the golf course to play tight in spots. On the back nine, you pass under a freeway to play the 16th hole before finishing on the other side.
Like most Thai golf clubs, caddies are mandatory, but that's a good thing here. They're some of the best in Thailand and offer massages and fanning while you wait to hit your shot. Muang Kaew Golf Club is busiest on the weekends, so you're better served to play here Monday through Friday. Just a 20-minute drive from Suvarnabhumi Airport, it's a good first or last stop on a Thailand golf trip.
