Litchfield Country Club has that charming, classic southern feeling. It opened in 1966 as one of the original Myrtle Beach golf courses. It has since been joined by more than 100 tracks. Many are bigger and badder, but few can match Litchfield's laid-back, traditional atmosphere.
Located south of Myrtle Beach just off of Highway 17 on Pawley's Island, near River Club and Willbrook Plantation, Litchfield is short and narrow, built for persimmon woods, not space-aged metals. This is a walkable course, winding through a sleepy neighborhood shaded by tall pines. Many tiny ponds and shallow-lipped bunkers come into play, but there's always a way around them, one of many reasons Litchfield is a favorite among women and seniors.
