The Heathland course at Legend's Resort in Myrtle Beach

The Legends Resort in Myrtle Beach is home to three golf courses, including Tom Doak's Heathland, opened in 1991.

Built on top of pancake-flat land, Doak moved plenty of dirt here to create a links-style course paying homage to some of the great holes of the British Isles. It's one of the better land-shaping jobs in the Grand Strand.

Players will particularly enjoy the wide fairways. Bunkers abound, but can be carried to cut doglegs. Among the best holes here is the long par-4 16th. From the tee, you must decide whether to play left or right of the creek that splits it in half. From there, your approach is uphill over a massive bunker with railroad ties to the green.

Located off Myrtle Beach's main artery, Highway 501, Legends is also home to the Parkland and Moorland golf courses.
